1955-56 Raingear Wiper System, 2 spd (No Delay) The RainGear system will fit all 1955 and 1956 Chevrolet cars with just a couple of minor modifications:
The 1955 and 1956 cars have two 3/8" diameter rods suspended from firewall fittings which support the steering column where the column attaches to the dashboard. The left rod is removed (and not reused) during installation.
There is a clearance issue if you have an Air-Tique air conditioning system in a '55 Chevy. The 4-outlet defroster duct included in their '55 kit will not clear the RainGear unit. The easiest solution is to use Air-Tique's standard 2-outlet defroster duct for '56/57 Chevys in order to provide the necessary clearance for your RainGear unit. Call us if you need more information on this modification. Please note that the RainGear unit cannot be controlled by any General Motors column-mounted wiper switches. You must use the included switch. This is due to the fact that GM switches control the wiper motor via the ground wire and our systems must be controlled by switching the positive wire.
The system does not include arms, blades or the escutcheons (exterior trim pieces). If you need those items, they are available separately. |
